No, you're right, it's the TWICE unit they removed and checked for water. The mechanic that charged me $150 to run some tests with the Tech 2 was calling it the immobilizer. The other lower-cost mechanic that has spent a couple of weeks on it pulled it out after the first mechanic said that's what's causing the engine not to start, but he didn't find any water in it. I'm not sure if the TWICE box was watertight and if water got in at all. It's possible that the resistivity of some of the plug contacts changed with the polluted water. I really don't want to try changing the TWICE unit if it's a problem with wiring.
Is there any other computer or circuit of any sort down low in the car though? I know the airbag computer is under the center console, I had to fix a problem with increased wiring resistance causing the airbag light to come on once before.
I know, this is a major bummer. The worst part is that the car was on the market because I had a bad feeling that I needed to sell it, and I already spent about 100 hours getting the car into amazing shape. I had an offer to buy it that I passed on because I thought I could get a higher offer :(
