In my discussions on my flooded car, the dealer mentioned your airbag controller, but that it was higher up in the console, and not wetted by mere wet carpet or a couple of inches in the floor well.
His concern [and mine] was that if I drove it from where I am to where they were [1.5hrs] that the airbag could go off. A concern alleviated by our realizing that the controller was higher up.
The old Twice, just replaced on my car, was disassembled by me. It is not water tight. My guess: subject to not only immersion, but excessive humidity caused by wet jute/carpet laying over it. [I would seriously build a little wood over and under layer with sticks or some aeration thing, engineered so it can breathe but not be in direct contact with wet jute/carpet, just in case water accumulates in the rear passenger well, but water not high enough to immerse the gadget.][Maybe, even, a boat, there, still covered by the sticks and jute/carpet, so a moving seat wont mess with the Twice and its connector]
With the Tech2, you can use your old keys, and replace the Twice, alone, mating the old keys to the Twice. My dealer charged my insurer 415 for the gadget, and another 600 for labor [what labor....][10 minutes of tinkering with the tech2]
