The 9-5 NAV has some deficiencies compared to my Garmin Nuvi:
- Map is way out of date. Has the wrong location for my Saab dealer!
- Speed limit info isn't accurate
- Upgrades are $200 from GM, although they don't yet list one for the 9-5.
- Sometimes won't re-route if you miss a milestone
- Sometimes computes a longer/slower route
- The NAV voice changes to speak street names
- Traffic info requires XM radio subscription.
- Keyboard is alphabetic instead of QWERTY
OTOH some things I like:
- Computes current position and downloads traffic info quickly
- You can select which POIs are displayed along your route
- Lowers radio volume when speaking directions
- Voice commands work well
ALSO: The radio and NAV are tightly linked. You can't run NAV without having the radio on and the volume control adjusts both. However, you can hit the "pause" button to suspend audio while navigating.
That's all I've found so far after 6 days enjoying my new 9-5.
