I had a sample of the used 5W/40 Total Quartz Energy 9000 tested that I drained out of my car at 295K miles and 5300 miles of oil useage. All the oil properties were still close to new, with the exception of TBN.
I am not a Tribologist, but the TBN (Total Base Number) measures the oil's ability to neutralize engine acids. My oil had dropped from a new condition TBN of 8.8 to a TBN of 2.4. Values below 1.0 are not recommended!
Extrapolating those numbers, my oil could have gone a little over 6,000 miles without issue. Some of the Mobil-1 oils start with a TBN above 11 which would alow them to go longer - assuming everything else stays within range.
Pay for an analysis and know for sure. A lot could depend on your individual driving conditions.
