...but I think your driving schedule/habits have a huge impact. I almost never drive the car less than 1/2 hr, so the car always gets a chance to reach full operating temp; this minimizes the acids that can build up from internal condensation.
When I sold my 2002 wagon it had 200k miles and used a quart of oil every 8k miles or so. My current 2003 Aero goes the full 10k w/o needing the oil topped off; it has 180k miles. FWIW, I drive on the aggressive side, at least that's what my wife and son say.
That being said, I seem to be in a minority.
