Just about everything on these cars is metric. So I'd get a set of metric sockets, wrenches, torx screwdriver socket set, a decent torque wrench for typical fastener ranges (and a cheapie one for torquing wheel bolts), a *big* breaker bar (mine is 4' long 3/4" drive), and various socket extenders, adaptors, u-joint/swivels. Multimeter for testing battery etc. For the oil change, you will want a drain pan (ideally a low profile one with a spout for easy cleanup) + filter wrench.
For the suspension work, you'll need spring compressors, the breaker bar, and jobs like that go faster with an impact wrench (I just have a cheapie electric one that is less powerful, but I only really use it to reduce ratchet time - I always hand torque to spec). if so, it's a good idea to get impact sockets from the get go... liquid wrench or pb blaster is also invaluable...
oh, and you'll want a good way to lift the car. never rely on the jack to not let go - always use jack stands!
good luck!
