There is actually a [literal] short cut you can take which makes it super easy and you don't have to take the whole console apart. You need to make an incision with an exacto knife on one of the two sides of the jalouise (about where it will line up with the shifter), then slip the jalouise around the shifter and into position, fore and aft. For peace of mind you can put a bit of black electrical tape on the bottom side after it is positioned around the shifter to secure. I was a little skeptical of this method until i tried it and found no problems at all. It also saves you the time and trouble of taking the whole console apart, and the cut is barely visible!
