banned here, but when I lived in a place that allowed them, the 1989 had hakkas with studs. *That* is what is great on sheer ice! Holy crap! I could accelerate through corners uphill on thick glare ice in that thing like it was nothing. I remember playing in a parking lot, mashing the throttle and slamming the brakes... almost as much traction on glare ice as on dry pavement. just ridiculous.
...but then you have to put up with all the racket and squirrely feel when the roads are bare.
We have less ice on the roads here: very little freezing rain (too cold) and they dump massive amounts of salt on the roads. You are smart to keep the vert out of the salt. They aren't making those cars anymore, and they are awesome! The only reason I still get to drive a 900 in winter is we have a winter beater that we just can't seem to kill. Those cars are really really tough. Man I hope NEVS makes a car like that!
