by pass valves fail at 30 to 60K intervals.
The job is not too bad. You need to take off those stupid hose clamps.
Throw away the by pass valve and put this in http://www.eeuroparts.com/Parts/31030/Heater-Hose-5463252/
only $18 and replaces lots of hose and takes out lots of joints. Leave the solenoid connected.
Remove the battery. take the bolts out of the fuse box and push it aside.
take cover off the harnes.......well....

If you are installing the above hose, just cut the hoses that go into the firewall and pull everything out, then take the hose clamps off.
We have done this to our 4 Saab Aeros and we fun A/C in So Cal and it works just fine. the heater by pass only shuts of the hot water when the AC is in the "LO" setting.
Only USA saab 95s had the by pass valve.
