V6 oil pressure light mystery

Hi all,
For the past 2 years, the oil pressure light on my 00' V6 wagon would very occasionally (every 6 months or so) flicker when stuck in heavy traffic and idling speed below 800. I googled the symptom quite a bit (for both I4 and V6 engines) and did not find any conclusion or followup on the V6 oil light issue. So I went ahead to change the oil pressure switch since it's the easiest thing to do. However, the situation actually got a lot worse right after I changed the OP switch with a brand new OEM unit. Here is the situation:
Now every time the car reaches operating temperature, the oil light will flicker and eventually become solid along with the triangle warning light. But when the light is up and car is running, if I just unplug the wiring connector (to the switch) and reconnect it, the oil light will disappear for a little while and only come back after another 5 minutes or so. The same thing happens if I turn the car off and disconnect and reconnect the wiring connector. Does this mean the wiring harness for the OP switch is bad?
Some background information: the oil is Pennzoil 5W40 and it's at full mark. Any thoughts on what to do next (other than getting a mechanical oil pressure gauge)? Thanks!
