Am in the middle of dealing with alignment (rear camber) issues on my 2001 9-5 2.3t auto. Ordinary for a Saab, but when I put on old BFGoodrich g-force sport COMP2 from my parts car, it came alive. The car sticks in wet and dry. With the stock sway bars it leans a lot too, but never loses grip. Having purchased only Michelins for the last 50 years, these are about the stickiest I have ever driven.
Rear camber ate the inside of the rear treads. No cupping, just even wear. Last month, after reading here about dealing with camber, I installed spacers (30mm each side) from genuinesaab and bought a new set of BFG g-force sport COMP2s. The new tires are great and I am very happy with the purchase. The tires were $91 at Sears, but after lifetime balance, road hazard warranty, valve stems, disposal and environmental fees, the total was $550.
There is still a camber problem. I am next going to swap springs with those on my parts car, a '99 with under 50k miles (and a blown engine). If that doesn't bring the camber in, I have also purchased, but not installed, camber shims for the backing plate.
The wheels are 16 inch, the tires are 215/55R16 rated at 168 mph! I have a six month alignment (about $90) at Sears and they will check and redo alignment for 6 months no questions.
One last thing. The tires are summer only. They come with warnings about snow. I live in the deepest south Texas and can sit out the one day every 20 years that the snow lands on the ground.
