We have Bilsteins and Konis on our 9-5 Aeros. Both are good. Bilsteins are a little less money and very good. Summit racing has Bilsteins for $94 each.
Key is to set the ride height properly.
On the Aero you should have 610mm from the fender edge at the top of the wheel well to the end of the wheel where the tire starts.
Aero springs sag.......Saab springs sag. DO NOT be tempted to replace the springs.......a waste of money as the new springs will sag quickly as wel......Therefore spacers are a great idea and the best solution. They are made for Saab shocks, Bilstein shocks and Koni shocks. Believe it or not these are on eBay and excellent.
Look in the WIS on how to measure ride height. Ride height is very important because as the suspension lowers, toe-in increases as does camber.
at 120,000 miles I would check rubber the outer upper rose bushings on lateral arms should be checked also the bushing on the front of the trailing arm should be checked. It is soft rubber and a poly replacement is a good idea if it is bad.
I would start with shocks and spacers and a full 4 wheel alignment.
You might want to replace the front struts as well if they are original. The OE ones are likely well gone at 120,000.
