The 06+ motor only has 2 wires coming out of the shroud to the fan (older 04 has 2 pair that splits across the motor top) - both are red, one with brown stripe - I connected red to the motor, grounded motor to body and the fan blows full speed -
When you look on the access panel for the cabin filter, there's a heat sink and wires attached that fits into a new slot that didn't exist on the 04 - clearly they are using that to cool the heat sink (reducing the A/C effectiveness at first startup) but making that new GM piece last longer (not long enough apparently!)
SO looks like it is the expensive new GM part:
