You must be an AmsOil proponent! I've been using it for about 40 years in just about every car in our fleet. I've used PI before and now use their Upper Cylinder Lube which reduces fuel consumption BTW. Lucas UCL is good stuff and is recommended in the 3 series BMW community for the M54 engines that burn oil. The car gets Shell gasoline (93 Octane) about 85% of the time and otherwise gets Sunoco.
I could give the AmsOil cleaner (flush) treatment a whirl. That's easy.
When I pulled the valve cover a while back the valve-train and head casting were clean as a whistle. No sludge at all. Thanks AmsOil.
A higher visc oil may also help as you point out. I believe AmsOil makes a 10W40 in their Signature series. I'm not sure how much that will help as I use a 5W40 now and it's the upper number that's the viscosity at 212F. Years ago I used to run 10W40 in winter and 20W50 in summer. Those days are long gone.
I'll try the flush and see how it goes.
Thanks.
