I have always purchased but with each purchase of late I have looked at the lease option and found it does not make sense for me. My window for use is over 10 years but my 1992 9000S has gone past this target with no end in site. My 9000S still looks good paint and leather wise and is still fun to drive.
The tenets I live by;
1) Transportation is the purpose/function, if I were seeking a status symbol to go with the purpose then would I buy a SAAB? Maybe not and this is rhetorical, I am not looking to start a new thread!
2) Priorities: Using a long term management of my money view will allow me to retire when I want to retire hence I do not want a car payment.
3) Safety: Are the curent safety features going to meet my 10 year needs? I find safety features to be the reason to change my autos.
4) Comfort: Will the current comfort and ride features going to meet my 10 year needs?
5) Cost of ownership: Maintenance and purchase price coupled with miles per gallon come into play. On this point alone I removed many cars after my test drives i.e., Audi S8 and all their other cars, BMWs, etc.
Just my warped view of the world.
