unlike virtually every other car on the planet, putting the control on defog does NOT activate the AC. One has to do it manually. All other manufacturers automatically engage the AC when defog is selected. Defogging without AC is not really defogging. Rather it is simply blowing air with its full humidity around. So, if yours was not on, simply put switch on the AC so that the AC can dehumidify the air before it is heated and dehumidify the entire interior. If it is very humid outside the car, recirc might actually help if the AC is on.
