....here because Saab and Subaru cater to different market segments. Bob Sinclair worked to bring Saab upmarket under his tenure and now GM is going to water-it-down. Who will buy a Saabaru when you will be able to get a Subaru for less? Does GM think that while man is in the showroom buying a Saab that he'll also get the daughter a Saabaru? This should conjure up memories of the Cimmeron/Cavilier fiasco that hurt Cadillac in '82....and Cadillac still has not recovered 20 years later! Sorry Cadillac is running commercials with rock music to appeal to those who grew up in the 70s....awful commercials!
Remember Forbes magazine's May '83 cover with 4 GM A-body cars? GM was so humiliated by that story and it seems the current regime is prepared to make the same mistakes. Oldsmobile, the oldest US marque is phasing out. Highly successful until the mid-90s, upper management never formulated a plan other than to rebadge a GMC Jimmy and throw in leather seats...call it a Bravada. Now how many do you see?
Kind of gives one confidence in those that run the largest vehicle producer in the world, doesn't it?
