My plugs stay so clean that I have to consider this cleaning cylce to be nothing more than a gimmick (sp?).
The cleaning cycle sparks will not clean the insulators. And the insulators stay clean. If the insulators are clean, then what can be on the electrodes to be cleaned off? Whatever could be on the electrodes that could burn off would never block a spark discharge. So the cleaning sparks would need to burn that away. As the electrodes are hotter than the electrodes ceramic nose that burns clean, I still cannot understand this. So the gap would have to pick up a chunk of loose deposit... a rare or almost impossible situation.
