and I still maintain that the problems are NIGGLING. Having owned and operated 6 VW's in my history, I think I can say a lillte about their reliability & personalities. They do have problems, but not as many FATAL as led to believe in CR. The coilpack issue w/ the 1.8T's was handled wrongly by VWofNA, and they should be ashamed of themselves, but this was an outside sourced part that was the problem. They corrected it, and I still maintain that I would rather drive VW than American, if I had to choose.
Please do not assume that we did not read the whole article, yes, the 6 cylinder is the one recommended, but the 1.8T is a fine engine, or it would not be used in the equiv. Audi's, which share problem too. THe potential HP from them is staggering. ALL cars have problems, it is a matter of taste as to how many you are willing to put up with. VW owners are as loyal as they come, sometimes more loyal than Saab owners.
