In 1999 in 98, 99 and 00 Saabs in the US there were two fatalities. Volkswagon had 40 respectively. Crash testing is only valid up to a certain point. All safety experts say consider real world statistics of the manufacturer or vehicle first and then consider crash testing of the vehicle; not the other way around. Another case in point -- the Cadillac Seville up until two years ago had poor crash test ratings but had very low actual ratings for injury or death.
