I don't know if it's your core, valve, or switch that's leaking, but here's a heads up on what your looking at.
As far as replacing the core, it is straightforward if a little tedious. It helps to be a small person w/ small hands and a 6mm (? don't recall for sure) *ball-end* hex wrench. Also a phillips screwdriver, some Vaseline, and remove some coolant beforehand. Summary of what's involved.
Open the driver's side speaker grill, remove the knee panel below dash, and disconnect the in/out coolant hoses on firewall (driver's side). The valve is apparent behind the instrument cluster/above the gas pedal and it connects to the heater core which lies on the center-line of the car behind a black plastic cover. Removal/replacement of those items will explain itself as you go. As a first timer it took me 1.5 hrs and I'm just a tinkerer.
Haven't r/r the dash switch yet - don't know.
