....and enjoy the fact that it's back together. If you have an 8-valve turbo, I would keep it for the following reasons:
1. More low-end torque
2. More low-end torque
3. More low-end torque
Neither of these engines is anything to brag about off boost, but the 16V turbo I drove was absolutely gutless down low. Around town, you'll miss it.
If you rebuild the 8-valve, have the head milled and you'll pick up a quarter point or so of mechanical compression ratio. Boring the cylinders .020 will pick up another quarter point (I know that sounds wrong, but remember, it's a RATIO). That will help the low end. Your APC will adjust the boost accordingly and you'll still end up with the same relative cylinder pressure at high rpms.
This engine will be more satisfying to drive than some high-tweak hand grenade.
