I have this '82 that started making a nasty racket from the head, took it off to have the thing looked at, got everything redone and now want to put the mother back on the car...problem? I have three headgasket kits here, one for a 16 valve engine, and all three gaskets are the same...but they don't match the one that came off the car. I never really looked before, but the engine and the head have three openings on each side on each cylinder yet the gaskets don't even come close. The holes the gaskets do have match up but they cover more than half of the holes. Now, call me wacko, but this just doesn't seem right. Can anyone give me peace of mind? The car is a turbo but that shouldn't change the engine block. Hell, as far as I know, the only difference in the head is the cam and some debate me on that one. Help.
