You wont have to fool around w/ the stock system, there must be a way to get around the mounting problem. Crank sensors are also more accurate than a sensor running off a camshaft. I was going through the same thing trying to figure out how to set up my Haltech, it allows the use of the stock hall sensor, but I realized I wont be able to fit the distributor in the engine bay of a 99 due to front mount I/C piping, (i'm putting in a 16VT) oh well gotta go w/ direct ignition.
