My Beastie's an '87 900T with (now) close to 175,000 miles on it. It had just over 172K when I left home on the 13th.
It never has used any oil between oil changes. I've been using synthetics in it since the second oil change, as soon as I felt it was broken in. It doesn't leak anything, anywhere, apart from the dribble of water from the evaporator that normally happens after running the air conditioner for awhile. The tranny, power steering, cooling, brake, and A/C systems are all tight and trouble-free.
The only problem I have right now is an idle problem, which may be a dirty AIC valve, though I did clean that out back in August. The idle dips and drops almost to the point of stalling, or sometimes it does stall. It happens when I have the A/C on and I'm coasting to a stop, then put my foot on the clutch after the dashpot has closed and when the RPMs are below 2000. It was doing this before I left on my trip but I wasn't using the A/C then -- I've just noticed this since doing my retrofit R-134a job. I'll post on here when I figure out how to fix it.
So, no troubles developed on the trip at all. I wouldn't hesitate to get into my car tomorrow and start to put another 3000 miles on it... but if I did that, I'd change the oil tonight!
