Which you would notice if you rebult the engine with new timing chain, timing chain tensioner, new pistons/rings/bearings/seals. Noises sneak up on you with 200K that you wouldn't believe.
Clearly, dino oil is inferior if you do the simplest oil analysis/spectrometric oil analysis. Synthetic oil in my cars has fewer contaminants in it at 10K than dino oil has at 2500-3000 miles. And often less than dino oil at 1000 miles in older engines.
Interestingly, our 2000 Audi V8 used dino oil or whatever audi put in there when new for the first 8000 miles....no color change! I switched to Amsoil 15W-40 and ran it for another 8K to oil/filter change (I provided the oil notwithstanding Audi Advantage...they provide the filter every other change. And it's a bigu'un...about a foot long and 3" in diameter...$40!) with nø color change. Did this for about 32K and only at the 32K service did I notice the color was darkening between oil changes. No oil consumption between changes either....car uses 8.5 quarts too so Noack volatility could be an issue with dino (you lose as much as 12-20% of dino oil between oil changes simply because it gets hot and the shorter HC chain molecules vaporize and the PCV system exhausts them).
So go ahead and run the dino oil...it's main advantage is it is cheap and adequate. But your engine knows.....
