Since it was leaking and you opened it up to fix the heater hose, it has had air introduced to the system. With the cooling reservoir topped up, heater switch open (and heater fan on), get it up to operating temp and open the bleed nipple on the thermostat housing. When it is sending out a steady stream of coolant, with no air bubbles, the system is bled. Make sure the reservoir doesn't drop below minimum while doing this. Just my $0.02.
