Hi,
Got it out!!!!!
The one side had broken almost flush with the ball joint. The otherside (nut side) I had whaled away with a hammer and the nut wouldn't go on anymore so I couldn't twist it off.
I used a dremel with a cut off wheel and ground ti down as flush as I could. Even my carbide drill bits wouldn't do more than dimple the surface so I just used multiple screw drivers, punches and a cold chisel to serve as wedges and then walked it out just as your described.
Thanks. Great suggestions.
Just for fun I then tried to press it out with my 3 ton arbor press. Yeah right!
John
