If you're changing all the gaskets, why not stick with MTF? That stuff is, in theory, compatible with 10w-30 and shouldn't cause any problems with seals, etc.
I've switched half a dozen cars to it at this point, and never had any leaks. The shift shaft seal is puzzling, too - there is no fluid that sits around that area, it just gets splattered. Are you sure didn't overfill it?
