I can say I had the same experience with a recently acquired '87 900 base that I picked up for my wife. Brake fluid was dirty, flushed and filled with Castrol LMA (DOT 4) and within a couple of days I'd be at a stoplight and the brake pedal would slowly sink to the floor. It first started off intermittently but then got worse and worse. I ordered a new brake MC from eEuro and installed it, a couple of weeks later all is well and I can feel reassured that my wife will be driving a car with a good MC. My theory is that moving around all of that crap when you flush can somehow bugger the seals in the MC.
