Unless you use a pressure bleeder to flush you system of old brake fluid, trouble usually happens. Using the brake pedal to pump the fluid out can cause the seals in the master cylinder to push crude into the system. When the pedal go only so far down under normal usage it builds a ridge of crude at the end of pedal travel. Pumping the fluid out by releasing the bleeder and pushing past normal travel will just about always cause failure. I can't tell you how many M/Cs I've toasted this way. I always use a pressure bleeder now. It screws onto the brake fluid reservoir and all you do is fill will new fluid and pump-up the tank and open each bleeder one at a time. Closest to to reservoir and the work your way back. Keeping an older Saab does costs some money,as I own three that are on the road now and I also will be needing complete overhual of the brake systems. I just don't know of any car that are better and safer to drive than a Saab, thats why I'll pay the price to keep them going. Go luck, you'll be just as happy after the job is done. -87/9000t-91/900s-96/900s. P/S-dot 3 and dot 4 are just differance heat range. Unless you really drive like your at a road rally,dot-3 isn't the problem!
