1979-1993 & 94 Conv [Subscribe to Daily Digest] |
I've spent most of the day screwing around with my '91 900T conv. after having it towed home yesterday. I'll spare you all the bloody details; I now know how the knee bolster comes out (and not yet how the trunk floor section that covers fuel pump access is removed!!) But now here's what I've found.
1. If I jumper fuse position 30 to +12v. the car will start and run normally (at idle, haven't tried to drive it).
2. I've inspected the relays by the ECU and they test ok, continuity thru coil, wipe on the contacts, etc. How one can get access to test if signal is there and if relay actually picks I haven't figured out yet.
3. I just re-read this from the Saabmaster site:
# Injector Signal While Cranking Pull back the rubber boot to an injector connector. Measure across both wires there with a voltmeter while cranking the engine. Voltage will vary according to engine temperature, ranging from 1V when cold to 0.3V when at operating temperature. If the voltage is present across the injector, look back at the fuel flow/level and the spark, the ECU and its relays are working as they should. If not, continue on below.
Does the 'ECU and its relays are working' part refer to the fuel pump and fuel system relays? I've done this and the next step in 'NO START CHECKS 2.4 LH' at the Saabmaster site. Both steps check out. What does 'look back at the fuel flow/level and the spark' mean? I clearly have spark and about 1/2 tank of gas.
4. In conclusion: I'm not sure I understand what I have discovered.
Using the jumper tells me the fuel pump is good, and must mean that it's not being told to run. Tests done say it should work. Where to next?
(Oh and about that trunk floor?)
'Preciate it,
