Worn flywheel tend to get a crowning on the face. This is due to the rivets holding the friction material onto the disc plate, apply more force and less on the outter edge. It isn't much, but when adding a new disc, it really make a difference. Uneven mating surfaces. On VW air-cooled engine, I would use a flexible sanding disc and spin the flywheel on the revolving tray while sanding the glazed surface. It gave it a nice hatch marking like the machine shop would do. It was good enough for 65hp - 80hp VW engines. I did read about replacing the 9000 Saab clutch job completely and afterward the clutch slips due to something failing in the clutch hydraulic system. It either didn't release the slave cylinder completely or the rubber line swells internally and doesn't allow brake fluid to return properly. The culprit was also related to clutch master cylinder seals. I'll be checking my 87/9000 turbo for the same problem. I just wish I could boost all the way in fifth gear. About the sand paper ideal, you'll ruin your clutch disc and also leave a shredded mess inside the clutch componants. Resurface your flywheel. The machine shop will do both the disc surface and cut the area where the pressure plate goes. This brings it back to like new specs.
