Might just be a monster Posted by vvack0matic [Email] (#1443) [Profile/Gallery] (more from vvack0matic) on Tue, 7 Feb 2012 10:30:06 In Reply to: changing trans oil from 90w, Jason Yardley, Tue, 7 Feb 2012 10:01:54 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
even though motor oil suppose to be in the box the question is,... why would someone change it to such a thick weight oil. only one reason in my mind is because the transmission gasket leaks like the niagara falls and if a lighter weight oil is put in the ugly monster will rear its ugly head and you'll use more motor oil than fuel to get down the road.
Lets not forget the pinion bearings are known to go out on these weak little transmissions. little weak transmissions that one can snap with one hand. 'point being.. the higher weight oil might just be acting like supper glue and holding whats left of the pinion bearing together,.. so switching back to whats suppose to be in there might just prove to make your car no-longer drivable sitting with a busted pinion and a transmission oozing out so much oil that it looks like you forgot to put the drain plug back in or,... build your arm mussel and shift that stick
