Noel, you would need to cut an opening in the middle of the piece as shown in the photo. If I were to do that, I would box it in. What I mean by that is there are two thicknesses that need to be cut thru. I would use the pieces that I cut out to fabricate pieces to weld the front pieces to the back pieces. I would cut a 20" wide section out. The section is 10 1/2" tall on the piece at the trunk and 11 1/4" tall toward the passenger area. It is about 2" wide at the top and about 6-3/4" wide at the bottom.
20" wide is just inside of the two small diameter holes inboard of the larger half circles at the bottom.
I would then re-enforce the section above what I cut out, the piece that the seat back bolts to, by boxing that in also.
This would give you a 20" wide by 15" tall opening.
How do you plan to trim the material in the trunk area?
