Lot's to think about - thanks for the pics Posted by Notnoel [Email] (#23) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Notnoel) on Sun, 14 Apr 2013 14:46:45 In Reply to: Re: Creating a pass-through to the trunk of a convertible?, Jon [Profile/Gallery] , Sat, 13 Apr 2013 16:50:07 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The pics are extremely helpful in conceptualising this and, as unusual, amazing. I had'nt realized that there was more than a single sheet of metal there. I am going to have to ponder this more thoroughly. I agree that it does look structural enough that boxing it end seems like a must. I also would need to figure out the engineering on how to deal with the back seat. I thought that I'd steal the hardware/mechanism from a 4-door's set up.
It might also be a good excuse to by another Saab (a hatchback), but I'd expect the wife to be no more thrilled with that idea than building the teardrop trailer (which I still really want to do!). I'd also thought about Cary's solution too. Might be easier to fabricate four large custom wing nuts/bolts so that the seat could be quickly removed, a build some sort of collapsible platform to bridge the gap.
