Was thinking of building this mod for a pass through to make a place to sleep in the car. My daughter was just accepted to my alma mater (Virginia Tech)and I was looking for a way to overnight in the car so that I can drive down on Friday night, crash in the car, catch a football game, and head home on Saturday night.
Hotels within 45 miles are are ridiculously expensive ($200- 280 a night), and a 2-night stay is required, if you can even make reservations. The university allows free over-nighting for RVs though. Since my wife has vetoed my plan to build a tiny teardrop trailer, I am moving on to plan B.
I know it'd work fine in the sedan or the hatchback (I tried it when we used to own one). I can easily sleep in the back of our Subaru wagon, but who wants to drive Subaru? Also, daughter will be taking that car next year and I will be back to square one.
