The first thing that comes to mind is alternator ground wire. They can look OK but sometimes, when you get a good look at the crimped terminals, you find that one end or the other is frayed down to a few strands.
When it's idling, check the voltage between the alternator case and the negative battery terminal. You should have maybe a very small voltage difference; maybe .02 volts or so (it's been a while and I don't remember the number that Ari when he posted on this issue). If it's significantly more voltage drop than that, the alternator ground cable is marginal. You might also have corrosion where the radiator ground strap is connected. Even in ATL, I have to clean that up periodically.
My '89 had similar issues a few years ago (except for the radio). Putting a #10 wire between the alternator clamp bolt and the A/C compressor cleared that up and gave the added benefit of a faster driver's side window.
When you measure the voltage between the battery terminals, what do you get?
