Think I need a new starter... Posted by Snowmobile [Email] (#686) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Snowmobile) on Mon, 6 May 2013 09:50:07 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have 2 c900s and one of them starts every time first crank. The other has done long cranks for several years now, typically 3-5 cranks to start. Pulled it out of storage over the weekend to start it up and no cranking whatsoever. Measured voltage on pin 50 (ie on yellow wire when disconnected). Spec is 8V - it kind of quickly ramped up through 8V on to 9.something at which point I had my wife turn the key off. Reconnected the yellow wire and measured at the braid strap (solenoid to motor). A very small voltage transient (<1 V) with the initial key on then 0.0V.
So I think that means the solenoid is toast, right? can you buy them separately? I don't see them on eeuro... maybe it's time to visit our local euro pick-n-pull...
Ignition key doesn't really spring back that well either, but I'm in the habit of turning it back. Would some WD-40 help that, or is it more often a worn out spring inside? I'd really like to keep the same key.
thanks!
