battery is sound Posted by Snowmobile [Email] (#686) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Snowmobile) on Mon, 6 May 2013 12:57:29 In Reply to: Re: Think I need a new starter..., Simon S, Mon, 6 May 2013 10:04:12 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I've been using the battery all winter in the winter beater, then popped it into the summer car to get it up and running... after doing diagnosis, pulled it and popped it back into the winter beater. That one started up instantly with the first turn of the key even after all the repeated attempts to start the summer car. Been driving the winter beater today. The battery works great!
I followed the diagnosis approach in the bentley. I assume the braid is the hot output from solenoid to starter motor and that if there's potential on terminal 50, there should be on the braid with a working solenoid, no? Bentley claims it should be 8V there too.
I'll try spraying some contact cleaner on the switch, though it seems to work pretty well, just doesn't spring back great. Good to hear it is somewhat separable in terms of repair/replacement! thanks!
