in Canada for a classic 900?!? even the most pristine examples up here have some "minor" rust. 5 doors are about as common up here as in the USA (you'd be better off looking in Sweden for that). Notchbacks were here a little longer than in USA though. The main thing to come to Canada for would be ecodes, but going to a junk yard here is a heck of a lot easier than buying a whole car to ship across the border.
Anyway, broken tranny vs rust: I'd take a broken tranny any day! If I was looking for another c900, I'd be looking for one in the southwest USA! I'm amazed you guys would crush a rust free body over a transmission... contact Cmyles if need be. Airbags and ABS should not really be a major decision breaker at this point either way... rust, then tranny, then other stuff...
