Bad Day (accident) and a couple of questionss Posted by Notnoel [Email] (#23) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Notnoel) on Fri, 1 Nov 2013 15:07:37 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Ok, so there it is. a very expensive way to start my Friday, but quite fixable, I think. Had it towed home.
Here's the question (actually 2 questions: The accident took out my oil cooler and after fighting to get the remnants of the old one off the threads were stripped so I couldn't put on a replacement and ended up cutting the two hoses.
First, I'm assuming this is not really a high pressure situation. I found a couple of bolts that were a tight fit and then hose-clamped them in.
First, Can anyone confirm that plugging these off is safe (safe enough to drive to the body shop about 5 miles away)? Or should I try try and find a small pipe and rig a bypass? Or should I just wait and order the replacement oil cooler and wait to move the car until it is fixed properly.
Second, The oil cooler drained and the oil light is on. I am assuming that there's no need to re-prime the oil pump (the idiot light is on when I started the engine after plugging the lines (only let it run for about 20 seconds).
