Just to throw in something that is easy to determine......double check the connections on the ignition switch. I have a parts donor car that runs, but the other day when I was trying to move it, there was no power to the starter ....... I was stumped......looked down at the exposed ignition switch and one of the wires looked a little off, but not enough to really make it obvious. I put the connector back on, and it started right up. It was because I was in that same area poking around and dislodged the wire. Since you have had the seat out, then it could be something has just separated that is over by the shifter console. There are grounds there too -- I think they are on the right ( passenger side ) of the shifter console.
AND, since you have had rusty floorboards, do you know for darn sure that the wires above the cat / heat shield are OK? I had a car not realizing the wonky behavior of the dash indicators was because the hot cat had burned through the wiring under the shifter console. Just what you wanted to hear at this time of year.
But, feel blessed that at least you have your car -- I worked the winter beater for a couple of months off and on to get all sorted out for 5 months of duty. It was parked in the shop lot, and was hit and nearly destroyed the day before I was going to pick it up. Ice on the ground today, and my car is in the frame shop.....crappola.
