The history of that valve was:
White plastic valve: early production runs. Don't even think of using this one if you find it.
replaced with (by early 1980 model year):
Metal valve. These failed pretty regularly.
replaced with (mid-80s someplace...)
Black plastic and stainless steel valve. The OEM Saab valves were wonderful. Always smooth in operation. I know that once I got one of these in one of my cars I never had to replace it again...
