I recently finished an engine rebuild due to a broken piston. Prior to the rebuild the car was having a problem achieving higher levels of boost. Long story short, the previous continued to drive the car the way it was and eventually a piston broke. I'm guessing that it had been running lean for some reason or another. Fast forward 4 years and the car came into my hands, I rebuilt the engine and everything seems to running good but its still running lean. According to the wideband O2 it runs at about 14.7 to 15.9 no matter what the boost is, currently im limiting it with a MBC at 7 psi because of this.
Ive tried to correct this by adjusting the AMM through the the test port, when I adjust it until i get a voltage sweep between 0 and 13 volts
the ohm reading on the AMM is around 100 ohms, Ive done this with two AMMs and I get the same results. If I turn the ohms past this point it pegs the voltage at 13.8 volts. If i continue to turn the adjustment up the idle AFR gets richer but the second I open the throttle it goes right back to 14.7 to 15.9, at wide open throttle it will run at about 13.6. This makes think there is a vacuum leak, but I havent found anything yet. Ive also tried turning the fuel pressure up with the same results, idle AFR gets richer but once the throttle opens it goes lean again.
Does it sound like I need to keep looking for leaks or could there be issues with something like the ECU?
Thanks for any kind of help with this issue.
