Howdy, elves!
So what are the most weird car-related issues that you have ever had and experienced? Please feel free to post and share!
Here go my nominations:
- a wheel rattle which turned out to be caused by a disbalance. Nothing special but the very disbalance which was caused by a little gravel... INSIDE THE TYRE;
- one day my car started giving me some valve noise come from the engine. I double-checked and re-adjusted the clearance with +- 0.02mm accuracy, but the noise was still there. If I checked the tire pressure in the morning or gave it a good body wash, then the noise didn't happen that day and the day after. Finally it turned out to be a valve seat which went loose (it wasn't a saab engine if one may wonder). The mechanic who overhauled the engine said that he had NEVER seen this issue with those engines - UZAM fwiw - for all his 35 years that he had been in the UZAM engine overhaul business;
- and finally the most recent one:

This is a button off the power window switch-pack (or whatever elves call it). Do you know that those pins have to able to move in and out in order for the button to be operative? I haven't found any mention in all the manuals and how-tos which I have read about rebuilding the power window switchpack. In my case one of the pins got stuck and thus the button was unable to go the fwd way (you know, there where you press it in order to lower the window down). After I got it tickled and greased and assembled the switchpack back together and installed it back into the car, I discovered that C900 - SURPRISE! - have the 'one-click window-down' function.
So, what were the most weird and strange quirks, issues and break-downs you evah had? Come on, speak up!
