Think about it this way. Tighten the #10 per the bulletin.
Then, if you want to go through the bolt replacement procedure, start in the middle, and work your way outward per the normal tightening sequence.
The point is that you want to keep the gasket clamped and as even as possible. However that is done via which bolt or whatever, what applies here is it's more important how it comes apart than it is how it goes together. We know how it goes together. What we don't know is what it was to get it apart.
So, you could take notes on how much the resistance via torque wrench to remove #1 #2 and so forth. If you find static values up to #10, I think you're going to be OK. If it's all over the board in terms of removal torque values, then then that is a story that points to a conclusion of head gasket replacement.
