Seriously. I would put a new o2 sensor in the new downpipe... when the o2 sensor fails in 10 years, get a new o2 sensor and a new downpipe... cost of a downpipe is way less than the cost of my time to extract an o2 sensor from an existing downpipe, at least in our salty winter environment... and I say that regarding a pipe already removed from the car so the position doesn't matter... still nearly impossible to remove!! Imho removing an o2 sensor from under the car is a waste of time in these parts anyway, unless maybe you have a lift, torch it, freeze it, perfect tool setup with giant breaker bar, etc etc...
I suppose if you live in rust free texas, it might be worth taking out the downpipe and removing the o2 sensor...
