Just bought 91 900S...

New to site. I just bought a '91 900S for my wife. 127K, clean title, no books, seems to run fine except for a few imperfections that can be expected for a 9-year old car. I bought it from my local mechanic who has serviced my Mercedes for the last few years, and is fair and reliable. He's really a Saab specialist, and was head mechanic for a local dealership before he went solo. From what little I've read on your bulletin board, an experienced Saab mechanic is KEY, so I think I'm OK on that end. I paid $4K out the door (sales tax in Ohio is 5.5%), so I probably got it for about $3750.
The car was hit on the driver's rear quarter panel, probably a long time ago, but the repair is an 8 1/2 of 10. There's no rust anywhere on the car and it's straight. He also told me that it has a new engine (mileage unknown). Everything works, or will when I figure out HOW everything works. The only concern is a noise through the dash, which he told me was because the rear-facing engine's belts are there(?).
What do I need to know about the car? What do I need to look for, and when? Are there any peculiarities with these cars? Remember, this is my wife's car (here's the story, she fried one the Mercedes' engines because the water pump failed and she didn't notice it was overhearing for about 80 miles...the new engine is on order. I don't blame her, but you get the picture). Also, this is my first Saab. Any references for source of parts & accessories? Anybody care to help a rookie?
