I recently bought a 1989 900S (Sold my BMW). I changed out all the fluids and put Valvoline 10W 30 Synthetic in the transmission. The car shifts much better, but Has anyone out there put a motorcycle designed oil in their manual trans? The reason I ask is that on all 4 stroke bikes, the engine oil doubles as the tranny oil. The oil manufactures know this, and put special additives in their oils to improve the performance of the oil's dual role in street bikes. In the past, I've had really good luck with Honda synthetic, and golden spectro synthetic oils. I live in Michigan and wonder if I should go with a heavier 75W90 or stay in the 10W 30 range?
